INSTALLATION

If you experience problems during installation,  please re-check your system specifications to ensure that they meet the minimum requirements. 

Check that your virus checker and firewall are not interfering with the operation of the application.

Ensure that the disk is in the correct drive and is not damaged.

Ensure that your sound is not muted.

Ensure that you have at least 500Mb of free hard disk space.

It is essential that your system meets the minimum requirements in order to run the application.

PLAYING THE GAME - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q. What is an Avatar?
A. An avatar is a character in the game that represents the player.  You will be asked to select one of two avatars at the start of the game to represent yourself.

Q. How do I move my avatar?
A. Use your arrow keys to move forwards, backwards and side to side.  Hold down the shift key while using an arrow key to make your avatar run.

Q. How do I make the avatar use the phone?
A. Your avatar can use a number of objects within the game by clicking on them when they are nearby.  When you click on an object you can use, you will usually be given a menu of choices about how you want your avatar to use the object.

Q. How do I know which extinguisher to use?
A. You can either learn which is the correct one through trial and error, or you can get information from documents that are available during the game (see “Instructions for using the game”), depending how you prefer to learn.

Q. What if I get it wrong?
A. If you take the wrong action, you will lose points, or will lose a life.  If you lose too many points or lives, you will need to re-start the game at the beginning.

A. Hints are provided during the game.  If you are unable to find the help you need, please check the FAQ section of our web site.

Q. How do I know when I’ve succeeded?
A. You will need to have encountered and correctly dealt with a range of situations during the game.  The software monitors your progress and will inform you when you have successfully completed the learning programme.
